Huliot’s/ISR Expanding Activity in India & Europe – Opening of its first India Plant
The leading Israeli pipe manufacturer, Huliot A.C.S. Ltd. has announced the opening of its first India plant, to begin manufacturing on December 1.
The plant is located in the Gujarati city of Vadodara, and is defined by the company’s management as a temporary facility, until completion of its planned factory in the Industrial park known as Dahej 2, also in Gujarat. Construction is expected to begin on the latter site, after next year’s monsoon. Huliot owns a 40,000 square meter site in Dahej, which is also close to a new shipping port, currently being developed.
“We have been studying the Indian market for over 5 years, and are extremely bullish about the growth opportunities surrounding the Indian construction sector. India is a highly competitive market with many competent manufacturers, but the construction sector is clearly undergoing a formative transition to higher rise buildings, and there is an awareness among developers and planners alike, that plumbing and drainage systems can and should be improved. Moreover, India is a market that appreciates quality and certain segments of the market are also prepared to pay for it”, Huliot C.E.O. Paul Steiner said.
The new Huliot plant is a Polypropylene plant, a rarity in an almost exclusively PVC market. Huliot’s VP Marketing, Ariel Apeloig, notes “high rise construction and changes in building techniques have created a growing awareness of the need for acoustic drainage solutions. Some of these are imported and in use already today, but we are pioneers in manufacturing PP acoustic systems in India, thereby guaranteeing credibility of supply and overcoming significant logistical drawbacks. Our Ultra-Silent™ and Ultra-Silent Plus™ systems are already widely regarded as the best systems available and we are confident they will be readily adopted by Indian planners. They are the most environmentally friendly drainage systems manufactured anywhere today, and India has a strong focus on environmental issues.”
Huliot already drew some attention in May this year, when it announced the purchase of the assets and activities of the Slovenian manufacturer Argo d.o.o. and according to Steiner, these steps are part of a well-planned, long-term strategy of international expansion. It is understood Huliot also plans to manufacture its PP-HT drainage systems in India, as well as a range of sink traps and siphons for the Indian market.

Huliot acquired Activities and Assets of Slovenian Pipe Manufacturer Argo
Leading Israeli pipe manufacturer, Huliot A.C.S. Ltd. announced the acquisition of the activities and assets of Slovenian manufacturer Argo d.o.o. in Horjul Slovenia.
KWD-globalpipe, 30.04.2014. The transaction was concluded in April, for an undisclosed sum, between Huliot and Argo which is currently owned by Slovenia’s largest bank, NLB and two other minority shareholders, since a financial restructuring two years ago. Huliot C.E.O., Paul Steiner said “this acquisition reflects not only our belief in the factory and in its staff of loyal and dedicated employees, but also of our confidence in the strength of European economic recovery, and our belief that our key target markets will begin to rebound strongly from the second half of this year”.
According to Huliot’s V.P. Operations, Peleg Zamir, it will take nearly four months to bring the Horjul factory to the same quality levels and product specifications that have made Huliot a quality benchmark in its traditional markets. The transition effort is being supported by significant investments in additional equipment, and Huliot will begin implementing a staff training program from the middle of May. The Horjul plant will be managed by Orit Schlesinger, who will relocate to Ljubljana to take up the position. She has over two decades of manufacturing experience with Huliot.
The plant at Horjul will bring significant logistical improvements to Huliot, who currently sell into European markets from Israel. “In addition to supporting Huliot brand sales with pipe manufacturing closer to our customers, we are very happy to add a healthy and respectable customer base under Argo brand, which we shall continue to market domestically in Slovenia”, says Ariel Apeloig, V.P. Marketing & Sales. It is known that apart from dominating the Slovenian market in its categories, the factory exports to over 10 countries in Europe and several others beyond Europe.
Argo was known for its Polypropylene drainage systems including triple layer pipes, and this is seen as a perfect fit for Huliot which specializes in acoustic (low-noise) drainage, and has very successfully introduced its UltraSilent™ drainage system into European markets over the past two years.

New 4,500 m² photovoltaic panels begin producing solar energy
Huliot is committed to saving energy and works to use renewable energy at its facilities. The 4,500 m² of solar panels covering the roofs of its Israel production site, generate an average of 630 kWh of electric power, enough to operate the air-conditioning systems in the factory and offices and several production lines.
